Previous Conferences

In 2011 we held two conferences instead of the usual annual event. This was to ensure adequate opportunity for consultation and discussion as plans for a new regulatory regime were developed.

'Commitment to Regulation', 12 October 2011, Sheffield

This event focused on the developing proposals for the new regulatory regime, outlined our progress since the last conference, and discussed the security requirements for the London Olympics and Paralympics Games 2012.

We published a special edition of our e-mail newsletter SIA Update that focused specifically on the conference. Read the SIA Update, Conference Special- this link opens in a new window.

We also published a notes document that summarises the events of the day and captures the points discussed during the breakout sessions (download size: 116kb).

'Phased Transition to a New Regulatory Regime', 30 March 2011, London

Our fifth stakeholder conference followed the Cabinet Office announcement last year that there should be a "phased transition to a new regulatory regime" for the private security industry. The conference considered plans and timescales for this transition, as well as examining security requirements for the London Olympics and Paralympics in 2012.
